Behind The Tools was created from lived experience — not theory.

Based in North Yorkshire, I provide practical behind-the-scenes support to trade and cleaning businesses, helping manage the admin and systems that can quickly take over outside working hours. The aim is to reduce pressure, bring clarity, and make running a business feel more manageable.

Before Behind The Tools, I set up and ran my own cleaning company, growing it to a team of over 20 staff delivering both domestic and commercial work.

Alongside that, I work closely with my partner, who has run a renovations business for over 25 years. Being part of that day-to-day world has given me a clear understanding of how trade businesses really operate — from experience ‘on the tools’, quoting and pricing, to managing jobs, cash-flow and client expectations.

Between us, we’ve built, run and supported businesses across both trades and cleaning. We understand the pressures, the workload and the reality behind the scenes — because we’ve lived it
